Ondo Finance Expands Tokenized Treasuries to Sei With USDY RWA Token
Ondo Finance has launched USDY on the Sei blockchain, marking a significant expansion of tokenized U.S. Treasury exposure into Sei's high-performance DeFi ecosystem. The yield-bearing, dollar-denominated real-world asset (RWA) offers an on-chain alternative to traditional stablecoins, catering to growing demand for liquid, composable yield-generating assets.
USDY distinguishes itself through its unique structure—backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries and bank deposits, it accrues yield via price appreciation rather than maintaining a fixed peg. The non-rebasing feature ensures token balances remain constant while the asset appreciates, eliminating the need for staking or lock-up periods.
This deployment integrates Treasury-backed capital directly into Sei's DeFi environment from day one, enabling immediate use across lending, trading, and liquidity protocols. The MOVE reflects accelerating institutional interest in tokenized Treasury products as blockchain-native yield instruments.
